App-wide behaviour is controlled on the Settings page. Here you choose how Vanguard connects to the game, how fast it acts, when it rests, when it may spend action points, and what extra tools are visible.

Game connection

At the top of Settings you pick how Vanguard talks to Rise of Kingdoms.
  • PC: Connects to the Rise of Kingdoms PC client. You must run Vanguard as administrator and have the game open and logged in.
  • Emulator: Connects to the game running in an Android emulator.
You can only switch between PC and emulator while detached. Detach first, then change the connection type.

Game instance picker

If more than one game is open, use the Game instance drop-down to pick which one this copy of Vanguard should drive. Press Refresh to scan for running instances again. Each copy of Vanguard must be pointed at a different game.

Pace, rest hours and limits

The Pace, rest hours and limits card controls how human-like Vanguard behaves.
Leave the timing randomness on and set the rest window to your real sleeping hours. This helps the account look natural.

Advanced timings

With Expert mode on, the Pace, rest hours and limits card shows an Advanced fold with technical timings. These are preset to safe defaults and most players never need to change them.
How often the loop wakes up to check what is due, how long Vanguard waits for the game to respond after an action, and the timeout before giving up on a re-sync.
How long Vanguard waits for the game’s answer to a list read, how long it settles after an action, and how long it waits for the script engine after attaching.
Map scan speeds, pan distances, zoom level and search cooldowns used during gathering and barbarian hunting.
Delays after a march is due to finish before Vanguard acts again, plus retry and give-up windows if the game’s update is late.

Reconnect settings

The Reconnect by itself if disconnected and Before reconnecting, wait settings only matter for Vanguard Hub accounts. In the single-player app Vanguard attaches once and stays attached. In the hub, these settings control how it reconnects automatically after a drop.

Expert mode

The Expert mode switch sits at the bottom of the Pace, rest hours and limits card. Turning it on shows:
  • Advanced folds: the extra choices on every feature card and on this card, such as how far a march may travel, how long to wait for alliance helps, the event item to turn in and how often to collect mail.
  • Full log: every line Vanguard writes, at the bottom of the Activity Log page, with a filter box and failures in red.
Vanguard remembers Expert mode the next time you open the app, until you switch it off.
Most players never need Expert mode. Only change an Advanced value if you know why, or if support asks you to.

When changes apply

Almost every setting on Settings applies on the next loop pass. Switching a feature on or off on its card applies straight away, even while the loop runs.
