# Create fines, set overdue rules, and manage payments

> Leaders create fines for governors, set overdue policy and reminders, waive fines, record payments by hand, and name a leader in charge for every fine.

Sovereign Sigil fines let leadership enforce kingdom rules. Create fines, set kingdom-wide reminder rules, and manage payments from the [Leadership tab](/leadership/overview#the-leadership-tab) or `/fine-admin`.

## Create a fine

  <Step title="Pick the players">
    Select the governors who broke the rule.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the amount and resource">
    Enter the amount and resource type.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add reason and due date">
    Write the reason and optionally set a due date.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name the leader in charge">
    Fill in **Signed by** and optionally **Contact**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose visibility">
    Decide if the fine is public (Hall of Shame) or leadership-only.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send">
    The bot sends the fine to each player by in-game mail.

## Fine rules and reminders

Set kingdom-wide rules from [**Leadership tab**](/leadership/overview#the-leadership-tab) → **Fine rules** or `/fine-admin policy` on Discord:

* **Overdue policy:** Do nothing, double it, add a flat amount, or add a percent.
* **Warn hours before deadline:** Default 24 hours.
* **Remind when overdue:** Send a notice once overdue.
* **Repeat every N days:** Keep reminding until paid or waived.
* **Send reminders by:** In-game DM, mail, or both.

## Manage fines

* **Waive:** Cancel a fine.
* **Record payment:** Mark it paid by hand if automatic matching missed it.
* **Notify:** Send a reminder at any time.

Every fine names a leader in charge. The bot signs all automatic messages with that leader's name.
