# Activity board: choose who can see the watch board

> Leadership guide to the activity watch board. Post it in Discord and choose if only leadership or members too can view it and turn on their own alert DMs.

  This page is for alliance leadership only. In Discord, only members with the leadership role can use `/activity-board`. In the app, only people with the **Leadership** tab can change the board.

The activity watch board shows the governors on your watch list: whose shield drops soon, who has no shield, who moved their city, and what changed in the last 24 hours. The bot updates it after every scan. For details on running scans and building the watch list, see [Activity watch](/leadership/activity-watch).

You decide who can see the board:

* **Leadership only:** the default. Only leadership can see the board and get alert DMs.
* **Members too:** members can view the same board you see and turn their own alert DMs on.

Members can never change the board. Only leadership can scan, watch or hide governors, change the auto scan, post the board, or change who can see it.

## Open or close the board in Discord

1. Type `/kingdom-admin` in your kingdom's Discord server and select **Activity board**. You can also type `/activity-board` directly.
2. For **do**, pick one of these:
   * **Board: members can view** to let members see the board.
   * **Board: leadership only** to keep it for leadership.

The bot replies with the new setting:

## Open or close the board in the app

1. Open the **Leadership** tab and go to **Activity**.
2. At the top, find **Who can see the board**.
3. Select **Leadership only** or **Members too**.

## Post the board in a channel

Run `/activity-board` in the channel where you want the board and pick **Post the board in this channel**. If the board is already in another channel, the bot moves it. To take it down, pick **Remove the board**.

Where you can post depends on who can see the board:

* **Members too:** you can post the board in any channel, including one everyone can read.
* **Leadership only:** the bot never posts the board in a channel that @everyone can read. Post it in a leadership channel instead. Otherwise, the bot replies:

If you switch to **Leadership only** while the board sits in a channel everyone can read, the bot takes the board down and tells you. The bot also takes it down if that channel is made public later. Post it again in a leadership channel.

<Warning>
  The bot only checks if @everyone can read the channel. If a channel is hidden from @everyone but open to a member role, that role can still see a board posted there.

## Alert DMs

Alert DMs tell you when a watched governor's shield drops within the hour, they get a new shield, their shield drops or ends, they teleport, or they log in from a new device.

* Leadership can always turn alerts on with `/activity-board` and **Alert me (DM)**, or stop them with **Stop my alerts**.
* Members can only turn alerts on while the board is open to members. See [View the activity board](/players/activity-board).
* Members get alert DMs only while the board is open to members.

## Good to know

* The board starts as **Leadership only**. If your alliance opened alert DMs to everyone before, that setting was not kept. Open the board to members again to let them get alerts.
* If the bot can't read the setting, it treats the board as leadership only.
* Discord and the app use the same setting. Changing it in one place changes it in both.
